Guidelines for authors

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE STRUCTURE AND TECHNICAL FORMATION ON ARTICLES

The National Academy of Internal Affairs continues to receive scholarly articles for further publication in professional journals:

  • "Scientific Herald of the National Academy of Internal Affairs" (legal sciences);
  • "Legal Journal of the National Academy of Internal Affairs" (legal sciences);
  • "Philosophical and methodological problems of law" (legal sciences);
  • "Legal Psychology" (legal and psychological sciences).

The editorial board accepts the publication of articles that have the following structural elements:

  1. The UDC (Universal Decimal Classification) index is in the upper left corner of the page in the first line (Times New Roman 12, bold, aligned in the left margin).
  2. Information about the author (authors): last name, first name and patronymic of the author, scientific degree, academic rank, ORCID, position, place of work (study) with indication of the city. Maximum number of co-authors is 3 (three) people. The said information is provided in three languages: Ukrainian, Russian, and English. The author's name and surname must be transliterated in accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On the ordering of transliteration of the Ukrainian alphabet by Latin" of January 27, 2010, №. 55. Also, the contact details (telephone, e-mail) (Times New Roman, size 14, interval 1.5) have to be given.
  3. Title (name) of the article, submitted in three languages: in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. The name cannot exceed 90 characters with spaces (Times New Roman, size 14, interval 1.5, bold, center alignment).
  4. Extended annotation (in the form of a report), submitted in three languages: in Ukrainian, Russian and English. Volume of annotation cannot be less than 1800 characters with spaces, one paragraph (Times New Roman, size 14, interval 1.5). It should be structured according to the logic of the description of the material in the article and contain the following elements:
  • purpose (the elucidation of unexplored aspects of the problematic issue);
  • methodology (methodological toolkit, theoretical basis);
  • scientific novelty (main results of the research);
  • conclusions (recommendations, perspectives of further scientific researches).

The annotation should not contain references and abbreviations, as well as duplicate the text of the article (in accordance with the requirements of international science-computer bases of referencing and indexing). The responsibility about English translation is the responsibility of the author.

  1. Keywords (6-10 individual words and/or phrases consisting of at most two words) through a semicolon. They are submitted in Ukrainian, Russian and English (Times New Roman, 14, interval 1.5).
  2. The text of the article should be structured and have the following elements:
  • introduction: the relevance of the research, the formulation of the problem in general terms and its relevance to important scientific or practical tasks. Justification of the novelty of the research due to the degree of problem solving on the basis of analysis of the literature used with the obligatory consideration of recent publications, in which the problem was initiated or continued, with the selection of previously unsettled parts;
  • purpose and tasks of the research;
  • outline of the main material: an interpretation of the existing positions of researchers to cover the issues raised and substantiation of the new scientific results obtained;
  • scientific novelty: theoretical data substantiation, new approaches to material comprehension and new problem solving, which are a significant shift in comparison with previous studies;
  • conclusions: summarized results of the research and prospects for further research.

The names of the structural elements of the article should be highlighted in bold and centered.

The volume of the main text of the article should be from 12 to 25 pages (A4 format, size 14, interval 1.5), or 21 600-45 000 characters with spaces, in printed and electronic versions (format .rtf) in Ukrainian, Russian or English. English translation must always be accompanied by Ukrainian translation.

The links in the text should correspond to the APA style.

  1. References - a transliterated list of literature (in Latin letters) in alphabetical order, in accordance with the APA style (Times New Roman, size 12, interval 1.5).
  2. List of used sources (bibliographical description of the sources used during the preparation of the article, in the language of the original), is drawn up in accordance with the standard "DSTU 8302:2015. "Information and documentation. Bibliographic link. General terms and conditions of assembly"(Times New Roman, 12 points, interval 1.5).

The order of descriptions is presented according to the order presented in References (without numbering). According to the recommendations of the international citation databases, the pioneer bibliography should have a kernel of sources that has an impact on the development of a particular field of science.

References and list of sources used should meet the following requirements:

  • quantity: 15-30 (for original articles), 30-50 (for review articles) sources, drawn up according to the specified standards. Most should reflect the current state of scientific research and be published no later than during the last five years;
  • at least three foreign sources in Latin (articles from foreign magazines with a high index of influence, published in the last two to three years, and basic monographs);
  • 80% of sources should have a DOI, a digital object identifier (with the exception of retours - 10%), which is fed through a space after the bibliographic description of the source.
  • there should be more than 10% self-referrals.

 

The article should be submitted to post in such way:

  • printed version of the article with the signature of the author, which means his full responsibility for the quality and scientific significance of the submitted material;
  • Electronic version of article text on USB-media or by e-mail: [email protected];
  • extract from the protocol of the meeting of the department (scientific laboratory) about the recommendation of the said article to open print.

 

Warning! The authors are fully responsible for the accuracy of the material provided, the accuracy of the cited quotes, statistics, names, as well as the fact that the material does not contain data that is not subject to open publication. Articles submitted in violation of these requirements are not accepted for publication. The fact of plagiarizing uncovered by the editors is an unquestionable ground for rejecting the article. The editorial board also does not consider an article, at least one of whose authors does not have an ORCID.
