Research of Academician V. Kopeichikov in the Realm of the National Idea
Abstract
The article is devoted to the problematics of formation and development of the national idea of the Ukrainian nation. The author considers this issue from the perspective of the great Ukrainian legislator, D.J.S., Professor V. Kopeichykov. The immediacy of this topic is affirmed by the complicated geopolitical situation in the country, where the absence of the nation consolidation has led to the loss of the part of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The historical aspect of this issue consideration shows that the problem has begun upon the Kievan Rus’ times, when the formation of Ukrainians as ethnos with their traditions, language and culture was starting. In his studies, the academician V. Kopeichykov reaches out to the experience of generations in order to disclose the problem of nourishing of the national idea by Ukrainians. Besides, in the context of historical eras, the scientist shows tragic pages the people had to face in order to get in the fight the right to be called a nation in an independent state. The article presents the issues of the complementarity of civil society with the ideas of national rebirth. The genesis of the legal culture of Ukrainians is also investigated. Furthermore, in his publication the author places the emphasis on the ideas of the scientist regarding the development of ethnostatecreation of Ukraine. The progressiveness of the views of the Academician V. Kopeichykov is also affirmed by his viewpoint regarding the statehood of the Ukrainian language, its official assignment in the Constitution of Ukraine of 1996. In the context of the given problematics, the myth about the harassment of ethnic groups in their rights is taken apart. Moreover, basing on the ideas and convictions of the scientist-legislator, he made some recommendations regarding the improvement of the legal terrain of Ukraine in the context of authentic culture and mentality. Talking about the legal significance of this publication, the author refers to the provisions of the Constitution and the Laws of Ukraine. Regardless of the retrospective analysis of the ideas and views of the scientist from the standpoint of modern legal realities, his ideas and views regarding the improvement of the legislative environment of Ukraine are demanded nowadays. The conclusion of the article states that the flowering of the state, the rise of the welfare of its people, the harmonious development of all aspects of its life are the objective conditions that contribute to the consolidation of the nation and depend on both the ruling elite of the state and each of us.
