Formation and Development of the Professional Competence of the Patrol Policeman

Abstract

The professional competence of the patrol policeman consists of personality traits, professional skills and knowledge, experience, skills, abilities and motivations. The work of practical psychologists and the governance of the National Police units is aimed at patrol preparation as a professional, taking in to account the component composition of all competencies. The identification signs of a professional crisis, professional burn out and decrease in professional motivation of patrol are important during the formation of professional competence.

The main component composition of the professional competence of the patrol policeman is noted in the article. The main ways of forming a patrol as a professional are analyzed. Measures for identification factors that impede professional policeman development are described. There are given the personal-individual and managerial competencies, cognitive and psycho-pedagogical competencies that comprise the component structure for accounting in the preparation of the patrol. The effectiveness of the complex methodology of psychological support of the process of formation of professionally competent employees of the system of the National Police is substantiated. The stages of formation of professional competence of the patrol police employee are describes. The complex of requirements to the professional competence and professionalism of patrol is selected and justified. The influence of the professional competence components on the acquisition of professionalism by the employee in the process of personal development is analyzed.

The main components of professional competence are professional culture and ethics, legal awareness and professional abilities. For finding a place in a professional hierarchy, a person must acquire a high level of professional competence. Professionalism is considered to be a necessary condition for the expression of competence, and competence is an indicator of the degree of professionalism. Professional competence is not only a measure of professionalism, but also a determining factor, from which depends the success of the implementation of social and professional functions, and the entire life of the individual.

In addition, the development of professionalism contribute is facilitated by practical psychologists. Psychologists provide psychological counseling, a professional support and socio metric researches. All these measures provide opportunity to prevent the inhibition of the police professional development and to promote the development of all these professional competences.
