INTERDISCIPLINARY METHODOLOGY IN RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEMS OF WAR CRIMES INVESTIGATION

Abstract

Abstract. The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of interdisciplinary methodology in scientific research on the problems of war crimes investigation. The relevance of this topic is due to the need for effective investigation of war crimes, as well as the need to improve scientific support for relevant legal and law enforcement procedures. The work systematizes and analyzes the methodological tools of various scientific disciplines in the context of the study of war crimes, justifies the feasibility of an interdisciplinary approach, and formulates recommendations for the optimal combination of multidisciplinary methods to increase the effectiveness of scientific knowledge of this complex socio-legal phenomenon. The article analyzes the purpose, capabilities, and limitations of the selected range of methods used in the study of war crimes. Legal methods are considered, including dogmatic and comparative legal. Particular attention is paid to sociological methods that allow studying the social prerequisites and consequences of war crimes, including quantitative and qualitative approaches. Psychological methods for analyzing the motivational aspects of criminal behavior and consequences for victims are considered. Historical methods for contextualizing crimes and political science approaches to analyzing political prerequisites and consequences are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to philosophical methods that provide a conceptual basis for understanding the ethical and legal principles of the prohibition of war crimes. It is substantiated that the integration of various methodological approaches allows creating a more complete and objective picture of the phenomena under study, ensuring mutual verification of results and increasing their reliability in judicial procedures. The study demonstrates that interdisciplinary methodology is not a mechanical sum of individual methods, but represents an organic integration of approaches capable of revealing the complex dialectics of legal, factual, social and humanitarian dimensions of war crimes. The dynamic and adaptive nature of such methodology, its ability to be modified in accordance with the specifics of specific research tasks and contextual factors, is emphasized. The practical significance of the work lies in formulating recommendations for researchers, law enforcement officers and other subjects regarding the optimal application of interdisciplinary approaches in the investigation of war crimes. The results of the study can be used to improve the methodology of scientific research in this area, train specialists and develop educational programs.
