Theoretical and Practical Problems of Counteraction of Religious Terrorism in Ukraine
Abstract
The article considers religious terrorism in the context of threats
to global security. In the process of analyzing scientific achievements
of domestic and international scientists, it was found that religious
terrorism becomes the most popular and dangerous type of terrorism
based on the religious fanaticism. The purposes inherent exclusively
to religious terrorism were identified, including: apocalyptic, formation
of religious government (theocracy), purges on religious grounds. It
was also acknowledged that terrorism in many countries of the world
emerged not only in the result of political, religious, ethnic and
economic contradictions and conflicts, but actually because of the
high level of corruption. Emphasized that the situation that has
developed in Ukraine as a result of activity of various modern
religious organizations (cults), require urgent measures to counteract
the development of sectarian extremism in all its forms. Based on the
key issues to counteract religious terrorism, it was concluded that
national legislation needs improvement in this sphere.
